According to AmericanMedSpa, the leading Med Spa association – the average payment from patients in 2022 was $536.00. Let’s take a look at how that would look with both programs.

 

Med Spa Cash Discount Program Example:

 

If cash was used in a cash discount program, you would discount the total by 3.5% ($18.76) for a total of $517.24. ($536 average client payment – $18.76 3.5% cash discount = $517.24)

 

If the patient chose to use a credit card, the terminal would automatically add a 3.5% ($18.76) non-cash rate adjustment to the charge of $536 totaling $554.76.

 

Med Spa Surcharge Program Example:

 

If cash was used, nothing changed. So in our example, the total would be $536.00 if that was the patient’s responsibility.

 

If the patient chose to not use cash and use their credit card, a 3.5% non-cash rate adjustment would be added ($18.76) which would total $554.76.

 

As you can see the only difference is with a cash discount program you are giving the customer a great deal for using cash.
